When I first arrived in San Jose my husband took me here very often but after going there last we decided we not come here again
When we arrived though they had mentioned they were open on yelp and google they said they going to close but could come in only if we wanted thaali
So we went in and got the thaali of the day. The food was very average, he did not give us all ingredients of the thaali and yet charged us full price for it too. When ordered extra rotis we were charged extra. We used like this place but don't think we would go back there again -

Quality of food is totally Bizarre I tried dabeli once it was really good next time I went there the quality of that food completely went downhill I don't know whether I should come back or not.

Surati is striked off my list of restaurants. Used to love the Gujarati thali here. With the new management, first, it is misleading to even call it Gujarati food- they served a medu vada, extremely runny and stale tasting buttermilk, undhiyu which did not taste like traditional undhiyu just to mention a few of it's terrible dishes. Such a shame, not going here again and would advice anyone looking for authentic Gujarati food to NOT go to Surati

Please do not waste your time and money! New management has taken over and food/service is TERRIBLE.
It is so sad that I had to give one star review to what used to be my favorite restaurant.
-Thali is now limited with price bump- 14.99$ for a poor thali
- chapatis were microwaved and crackles
- bhindi and cabbage were mushy with just salt in them.
- mix veg curry had frozen mix veg
- mutter paneer had raw tomato puree, not cooked
- if you want pooris for thali, you had to pay extra
- kheer(management calls it basundi) had curdled milk
- kadhi had raw besan smell
- mirchi pakoras had half cooked besan coating
- how can someone screw up fryums?
When I complained to manager, he said - aren't others eating; why are you complaining. Only one other table was occupied. He was way too rude and we had to leave half way through our lunch. Clearly ruined family outing.
Older management- you shouldn't have left.
